1. What is the difference between “The Industry’s Alternative” and Tuncore, CD Baby, Reverb etc

The Industry’s Alternative service extend s much more than just digital distribution, in fact digital distribution is just the bare minimum of what we do. A lot of companies out there require a certain fee to send your content out to the top digital retailers .They stop there instea d of going one stop further and looking for other source s of placement that can be very beneficial for the artists. Getting your music place d on I-tunes, Rhapsody, Amazon, etc is the easy part. What we focus on, is making sure your digital content has a strong presence on the net. In that way your incoming and potential fans hear about your music and know exactly how and where to download your product. What’s the use of having your music on I-tunes if no one know s that it’s there? The T.I.A. staff works tirelessly around the clock to find high traffic, cutting edge destinations on the web. We place your music on there to increase the visibility and notoriety of your work.

2. Placing my music on sites, digital retailers, blogs, and social music sites sounds easy enough, why would I need you guys to do this for me?

The T.I.A. staff is com prised of professionals that have at least 7 years of experience in the digital/social music realm on the online space. Some agents worked at major recordin g labels, Ringtone and mobile entertainment companies and marketing sectors of successful independent labels. Therefore not only do we have a countles s list of industry contacts of the “Online Taste makers” but we have the experience to know exactly what different marketing techniques work and do not work. Business development is a very important area of T.I.A. We make sure there is a direct relations hi p in place with CEO’s and the head of urban at each music blog, on line publication, social music site, digital retailers and ring tone company. You want to make sure you run with a company that already has insight and connections in the online space. Welcome to The Industry’s Alternative “The #1 Digital Music Advocate”.

3. How do I get started?

We abide by a strict code of quality over quantity, therefore we only invest our time in artists we feel meet that criteria. In order for you to be considered, you must fill out the contact form. Please make sure you fill out all required fields and one of the T.I.A. agents will be contacting you within a 24 hour period.

4. What do your services consist of?

The Industry’s Alternative consists of 3 different packages …
A. Ringtone campaign – This includes ringtone deal execution, widget development and ringtone marketing . You want your fans to know how easy it is to download your ring tones. Being that we have over 6 years in the ringtone business, our trained professiona s kno w exactly what works and what does not work when successfully promoting ringtones to the general public. It’s one thing to get a ring tone deal, but it’s another thing to utilize the opportunity to the fullest so that you receive a solid stream of incoming revenue around the clock.
B. Digital Music Campaign – This campaign extends a lot further than just digital distribution. Our relationships allow us to send your music to the top high traffic blogs for placement and high traffic social network implementation. TIA works tirelessly aroun d the clock to get your music on the top pages of each site, bringing you more visibility and increasing your impressions which could translate into downloads or other sources of revenue. C. SMS campaigns – SMS is any text message that can be sent directly to a cell phone. We enabled a way for Artists, Djs, Club Promoters etc, to send virtually anything via text message. Imagine having your fans all receiving your new mix tape with just the click of a button, and the sweetest part about it is… you get paid in the process. The Industry’s Alternative is partnered up with a SMS company called Social Cord that has a short code approved across all carriers.

5. How much does it cost for your services, and can I just pick one of your packages if I feel like I don’t need everything else?

Each of our clients campaigns are tailor made for their project specifically dependent on their genre, buzz, fan base and demographic. That is why we don’t have 1 set price. Once you fill out the contact form, an agent will be contacting you with a series of questions. Once the answers are evaluated we will then send you a rate card. If you would like to pick our services “A La Carte” (One individual service instead of everything) that can be arranged as well. Please email apex@industrysalternative.com with your inquiry.

6. Is there a contract in place? How long is the contract good for, and is this an exclusive or non- exclusive contract?

Each client must fill out a licensing agreement which gives us the right to place your digital music assets in various on line portals. We do this to protect ourselves from copy write liability in case one of our clients encounters an issue. The agreement was professionally drafted up by an attorney and it’s completely non- exclusive. This means that you are not binded to the agreement. The agreement also states that our services survive for 3 months. Once the 3 month s are done, the agreement expires and the client can either renew, or walk away.

7. Reporting and Data Management

Every week we make sure that we send you updates on sales accrued, new site implementation, widget visits and placement. We make sure that each week you are up to speed with both of our productivity so you can keep an overall summary of everything. This will help you once the 3 months are over to continue on the digital marketing journey yourself. When it comes to do with on line implementation, you are only as successful as your data.

8. How do you determine which sites you find placement on?

The nature of the business is to not only place your content in generic areas of the site, but we strive to place you on all the main pages to increase visibility of your content to the masses. The TIA agents tirelessly work around the clocks contacting site managers, head of digital, CEOs of high traffic online destinations that fit your demographic. Check out our affiliate page to get an idea of who we are connected too and checkout some of the other artists we have placed.

9. Do You Take a Percentage of Sales?

The Industry’s Alternative does not take any percentage of sales. Depending on the storefront your music is placed on, the retailer usually takes 10 to 20 percent of downloads that are accrued. Once you accumulate more than 10 dollars in revenue, your cheque will get sent out via PayPal or directly every 45 days. Unlike a lot of other digital marketing companies we believe your money is your money, therefore your money earned is sent directly from the retailer to you.

10. Email Blasts and Press Releases. Do you do that?

We have a team of cutting edge writers who majored in broadcast journalism from schools like St. John’s University and Penn State. Therefore as part of our marketing packages we like to send out official press releases and blasts to our contacts about your online content. Whether your ringtone campaign is on the go, your music is on I-Tunes, or your music is being pitched to the top blogs on the net … we specialize in targeting to individual demographics of taste makers. We also use a service that gives us detailed analytics on Open Rate, Opt Out Rate, New Subscribers, Un- subscribers, Impressions, and URL click- troughs to determine how productive each press release and blast is. Anything that increases the awareness of your online music is our main drive for all of our services. “Good music speaks for it… all it needs is visibility”.

11. I am a company that caters to artists, and I would like to be on your affiliates page.

The Industry’s Alternative would like to be affiliated with companies who we feel have a stellar business model, that musicians can use to succeed in their aspirations. If you feel that your company offers a great service to independent or major label artists, then feel free to fill out the contact form and send over a note.
